Counselling Contract

C A Counselling & Training Services Counselling Contract

Before counselling sessions can begin, I ask that you read, understand and agree with the terms and conditions in the following contract. The conditions are for the benefit of both parties.

Please read the following contract and complete the short form at the bottom to confirm that you agree with the conditions.

Confidentiality

All sessions will be conducted in a safe and confidential manner. C A Counselling service will keep all records in a safe and confidential manner, with the following acceptations:

  • The client is evaluated as dangerous to self or to others, as outlined in the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
  • There is evidence of child abuse.
  • Any criminal involvement.
  • A court has made a legal order (subpoena).
  • A signed release form by the client to obtain any data about themselves held by C A Counselling Services.

Client Rights

As a client of C A Counselling Service, you have certain rights.

You have a right:

  • To dignity as an individual human being. You have the right to equal consideration and treatment, regardless of your sex, race, religion, colour, economic status, age, sexual preference or beliefs.
  • To be provided with professional and respectful care.
  • To understand the assessment of the problem, the recommended action and resources available to help improve the problem.
  • If you decide not to accept these recommendations, I will endeavour to reach a satisfactory course of action with you. Alternative resources may be available.
  • To confidentiality within C A Counselling Services and, as laid down by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
  • The right to have any complaints about me or the way I work. I would appreciate it if you would raise these with me in the first instance. If we are unable to resolve the situation you may make direct contact with my Professional Supervisor of which details can be obtained at the time.

Client Responsibilities

Along with rights, there are responsibilities.

These are:

  • To be honest, open and willing to share your concerns with your counsellor.
  • To ask questions when you don't understand or when you need clarification.
  • To discuss any reservations you may have about your future options with your counsellor.
  • To report changes or unexpected events with your counsellor as related to your problem.
  • To keep your appointments, or to give at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or change an appointment. If you fail to show for an appointment or give 24 hours notice you will be charged for the session.

Counselling sessions

Each session will last a clinical hour (50 minutes) at agreed intervals and 24 hours notification must be given for cancelled sessions or the session will still be charged at the agreed rate. Sessions can be booked in advanced and payment for each face to face session will be required after each session. In the case of telephone session, payment must be sent within 24 hours of the session and must be received prior to the next session.

Agreement

When you have read and understood the above terms of agreement and agree to accept and abide by them throughout the counselling process and until such a time as the counselling ends, then please complete the short form below.
